Biographical Sketch

Dr. Richard S. Zusman has had a highly successful career in education.  Prior to co-founding AEC, Dr. Zusman was the Curriculum Coordinator in Norton, Massachusetts Public Schools. He was directly responsible for the mathematics, science and social studies curricula for kindergarten through grade 8. He wrote and administered nearly all the federal and state grants (e.g. Title I, Title IIA, Title VI, Academic Support Services, Adult Education, Partnership for Advancing Mathematics and Science, Mentor Teacher Program, etc.). He also oversaw the district’s testing and inservice training programs. Before working in Norton, Dr. Zusman served as the Massachusetts Department of Education’s Title I Evaluation Specialist, was an Educational Policy Fellow at the National Center for Education Statistics and the National Institute of Education. In addition, Dr. Zusman was an Evaluation Consultant for several school districts, a Senior Lecturer at Cambridge College, and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education at Wheaton College.

Dr. Zusman received his Ed. D. in Educational Administration from Northeastern University. He received a M.A. in Political Science from the Graduate School of Public Affairs, State University of New York at Albany and a C.A.S. in Curriculum Development from the State University College at Brockport, New York. His primary interest is in program evaluation, curriculum development, and large-scale assessment. He has written numerous evaluation reports and has published several articles in the following education journals: Clearing House, Integrated Education and Social Science Review. In addition, his innovative Parent Involvement Project was featured in Time Magazine.
